Job description

As an IT Specialist (ENTARCH) at the GS-2210-15, you will be part of the Office of the Chief Information Officer, Office of Personnel Management. Selectees may be placed in either of two companion Enterprise Architect positions - Platforms and Infrastructure, or Products and Applications - which together maintain OPM's single, unified enterprise architecture and jointly drive standardization, optimization, and the adoption of emerging technologies, including SI and Zero Trust.

Duties

Serve as OPM's senior technical authority for enterprise architecture in the assigned domain, defining and evolving architecture visions, principles, frameworks, reference models, standards, reusable patterns, and technical governance methods. Lead development of current-state and target-state architectures and multi-year transition roadmaps, and co-maintain OPM's unified enterprise architecture and Zero Trust Architecture framework with the companion enterprise architect. Review major proposed systems, platforms, acquisitions, and modernization initiatives for architectural alignment, interoperability, reuse, security, and lifecycle sustainability; serve as senior technical evaluation authority for major IT buys. Advise the ACIO, CIO, and other senior OPM officials on architectural options, dependencies, risks, and tradeoffs; influence stakeholders to adopt enterprise standards; and mentor architects and IT specialists across OPM. Position 1 - Enterprise Architect, Platforms and Infrastructure (ACIO-Platforms): cloud and hosting, network, compute and storage, identity and access, endpoint, integration and API platforms, DevSecOps, and shared technology services. Position 2 - Enterprise Architect, Products and Applications (ACIO-Products): business applications and digital products, application portfolios, data architecture, API design, software delivery, digital experience, and SI-enabled applications.
