On September 18, 2026, Character.AI and The Walt Disney Company announced that members of Character.AI's technical team are expected to join Disney. Neither announcement describes an acquisition or a licensing agreement, and Character.AI said its app remains live. The move has only been announced, and the Character.AI record still lists the company as privately held with no parent organization.
Agility Robotics, Inc. and Churchill Capital Corp XI, a publicly traded blank check company, filed a registration statement on Form S-4 with the SEC on September 4, 2026, for the business combination they announced in June 2026. The merger is pending: it still needs approval by Churchill XI's shareholders, SEC review of the registration statement, regulatory and stock exchange approvals, and other closing conditions. If it closes, the combined company would trade under the ticker AGLT.
NVIDIA entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Hugging Face, Inc. on September 2, 2026, and announced it the next day. NVIDIA's Form 8-K says the transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2027, subject to closing conditions including regulatory approvals, so Hugging Face is still listed as a privately held company with no parent organization. NVIDIA says the Hugging Face platform will stay open to models from other developers and will not require NVIDIA hardware.
The Terminal-Bench team published version 4.0 of its command-line agent benchmark on August 28, 2026, a month after announcing that it would be maintained as a continuous benchmark with semantic versioning. The release removed eight tasks, fixed nineteen, and set a flat eight-hour agent timeout for every task; it is a major version because these changes require re-running trials. It runs through the Harbor framework.
IBM released Granite 4.2 on August 25, 2026: dense, decoder-only language models with built-in reasoning in 3B, 8B, and 30B sizes, post-trained from IBM's own Granite 4.1 base models. The weights are published on Hugging Face under the Apache 2.0 license. The catalog has a release record for each size under the Granite family.
At its ModCon conference on August 18, 2026, Modular announced that the full Mojo language, including the compiler and tooling, is open source; the modular repository that holds it is licensed under Apache 2.0 with LLVM exceptions, while the prebuilt mojo package on PyPI declares a separate Modular license. Modular also said the MAX license no longer contains device usage restrictions. On September 17 it said the Mojo compiler had begun accepting outside contributions.
SpaceX completed its acquisition of Anysphere, Inc., the company behind the Cursor coding tool, on August 14, 2026, through a merger of a SpaceX subsidiary into Anysphere. SpaceX's Form 8-K says Anysphere survives as a wholly owned subsidiary of Space Exploration Technologies Corp., and Cursor announced the same day that it is now part of SpaceX. The Anysphere record now lists SpaceX as its parent company.
Google Research released TimesFM 3.0, a time-series forecasting model, in August 2026 under the TimesFM Non-Commercial License v1.0 instead of the Apache 2.0 license used for earlier TimesFM weights. The license allows use of the weights only for non-commercial purposes and prohibits redistributing them; the repository says commercial and production use of TimesFM 3.0 is permitted through authorized Google Cloud services such as BigQuery ML. Weights up to version 2.5 and the TimesFM source code remain under Apache 2.0.
In August 2026 Meta Superintelligence Labs published Muse Glimmer, a model of about 30 billion parameters that takes text and images as input and was distilled from Muse Spark. Its weights can be downloaded from Hugging Face without an access request under the Apache 2.0 license, and the repository also includes a separate Muse Glimmer Usage Policy that lists prohibited uses. Muse Glimmer has its own release record under the Muse family.
Qualcomm completed its acquisition of Modular Inc on July 28, 2026, according to its quarterly report, and the closing was announced on July 29. Modular's announcement says Mojo, MAX, and Modular Cloud continue as products and brands, supported through Qualcomm Technologies. The Modular record now lists Qualcomm as its parent company, and Modular remains the maintainer of the Mojo and MAX records.
