Status: In July 2025 Cognition signed a definitive agreement to acquire Windsurf's IP, product, trademark and brand, and team. In June 2026 it introduced Devin Desktop as the next generation of Windsurf; the Devin Desktop page calls it the new name for Windsurf, and Cognition's platform terms refer to "Devin Desktop (fka Windsurf)" and say that for users who enrolled under Exafunction, Inc., the provider is Exafunction, Inc. unless they have been notified that their license was assigned to Cognition AI, Inc.5641

Cognition's verified Hugging Face account lists one public model, Kevin-32B, a CUDA-kernel-writing model fine-tuned from Qwen's QwQ-32B; its license was not confirmed for this record.38910
