Andrew White is a co-founder and the Head of Science of FutureHouse, a nonprofit that builds AI systems for scientific discovery, and a co-founder and the CTO of Edison Scientific, the company that spun out of FutureHouse in 2025. Edison's team page credits White with leading AI-for-science projects including the ChemCrow chemistry agent, the ether0 reasoning model and the PaperQA literature agent, and notes earlier work as a professor and researcher in machine learning for chemistry, explainable AI, statistical mechanics and chemical engineering.324

In November 2025, White and Rodriques launched Edison Scientific to commercialize FutureHouse's AI Scientist. White is now Head of Science at FutureHouse and CTO at Edison.534
Research
White's work centers on language agents for science. ChemCrow connected a language model to chemistry tools, PaperQA and PaperQA2 answer questions from scientific literature, and the Aviary framework trains language agents on tasks ranging from literature research to protein design.1678122
White is the senior author of the ether0 paper, which trains a reasoning model for chemistry with reinforcement learning, and a co-author of Robin, a multi-agent system for automating scientific discovery.109
